A short evening wander around the centre of Torbay and I found from a photographic perspective that looking down at the sea and up at the sky was the most rewarding.
At Goodrington the last light of the sun on the waves looked good. The area has some colourful buoys marking safe channels which added [...] Each year the fact that the sun sets earlier while it is still summer takes me by surprise – I should have learnt by now. Sunset is now around 20:30 with dusk about 21:00 so walking in the evening will require torches soon (& I’ll stop taking the camera). With the light the way it was [...] For a variety of reasons I’ve not been out much recently and certainly not as much as I would have liked. The evening looked promising so I headed for Brixham hoping for some good sunlight. As is so often the case it didn’t quite work out like that but I still found some scenes [...] Another evening out walking the local area. The weather was not good and there were odd showers. However walking around Berry Head was pleasant. The old fort there is being cleaned up up/renovated and the sea bird colony just to the south of it had a lot of birds in in. There were auks and fulmars [...] The farthest tip of Cornwall is a special place for me. I’ve been going there since I was very young. In particular the coast from Penzance around to St Ives has a wide variety of scenery, small harbours, cliffs, beaches, lighthouses, remains of mining and other antiquities and even some moorland. [...] Having seen the bluebells out near Hey Tor on the previous evening I went back out again with the dslr to see if I could get some more shots. The phenomena is very short lived and I thought I would make the most of it. #gallery-1 {
Another lovely evening out in the Heytor area. The light was stunning and, away from the bulk of Heytor, there were not many people about at all. There were times when Heytor was quite busy however in the one above only the climbers are present.
During the walk from [...] Although the ankle is still not good I ventured out for some short strolls on the moors yesterday (with it strapped up). The eastern area of Dartmoor around Hey Tor and Widecombe does not have the wide open spaces of the central moors and tends to be a little crowded at the height [...] Looking to broaden the “ash plume sunset” images I headed up onto the moors yesterday evening. I started off wandering around the Hey Tor area. However the light was a bit glarey and lacked clarity (maybe an hour and a half before sunset) so I headed towards Honeybags/Chinkwell tors. By the time I was there the [...] Leaving home to head for the moors on Wednesday evening it was overcast and didn’t look all that promising but when we got to the southern end of Hameldon there were some glimpses of the sun.
The light on the opposite ridge (east of Widecombe) was lovely. It was illuminating the tors there (Honeybags, [...] |
