Having seen the bluebells out near Hey Tor on the previous evening I went back out again with the dslr to see if I could get some more shots. The phenomena is very short lived and I thought I would make the most of it. #gallery-1 {
Another lovely evening out in the Heytor area. The light was stunning and, away from the bulk of Heytor, there were not many people about at all. There were times when Heytor was quite busy however in the one above only the climbers are present.
During the walk from [...] Although the ankle is still not good I ventured out for some short strolls on the moors yesterday (with it strapped up). The eastern area of Dartmoor around Hey Tor and Widecombe does not have the wide open spaces of the central moors and tends to be a little crowded at the height [...] Looking to broaden the “ash plume sunset” images I headed up onto the moors yesterday evening. I started off wandering around the Hey Tor area. However the light was a bit glarey and lacked clarity (maybe an hour and a half before sunset) so I headed towards Honeybags/Chinkwell tors. By the time I was there the [...] Most folk are probably aware that the UK and quite a large part of northern Europe are affected by the volcanic dust coming from the Icelandic volcano at present. This has closed down airspace in the UK and other countries for a couple of days now. One by product of this is that the sunsets we [...] Leaving home to head for the moors on Wednesday evening it was overcast and didn’t look all that promising but when we got to the southern end of Hameldon there were some glimpses of the sun.
The light on the opposite ridge (east of Widecombe) was lovely. It was illuminating the tors there (Honeybags, [...] Another of those days when I set out in hope of a walk. This time I had not driven far before I realised I was unlikely to get much of a walk in and I planned to be back for the afternoon to watch the rugby so my time was a bit limited.

While overall the countryside still looks rather faded and winter like a trip to Dartington Hall gardens yesterday showed that there are the start of signs of Spring.
In addition to the snowdrops (the scent was lovely) the shoots of a number of bulbs indicated that the next few weeks should have some colour in [...] Out and about locally yesterday gave some differing and interesting light conditions. In the morning I was in Torbay wandering around on the coast.
The combination of the light and cloud over the Berry Head headland were very striking (and appealing). The light on a sea that was quite calm also looked good.
