Although the ankle is still not good I ventured out for some short strolls on the moors yesterday (with it strapped up). The eastern area of Dartmoor around Hey Tor and Widecombe does not have the wide open spaces of the central moors and tends to be a little crowded at [...] Looking to broaden the “ash plume sunset” images I headed up onto the moors yesterday evening. I started off wandering around the Hey Tor area. However the light was a bit glarey and lacked clarity (maybe an hour and a half before sunset) so I headed towards Honeybags/Chinkwell tors. By the time I [...] Trying to take advantage of both the weather and the presence of the volcanic ash cloud I headed for the coast for sunset last night. This post might be a little rough as it has been a busy day and I am about to go out to catch sunset tonight. However the images [...] Most folk are probably aware that the UK and quite a large part of northern Europe are affected by the volcanic dust coming from the Icelandic volcano at present. This has closed down airspace in the UK and other countries for a couple of days now. One by product of this is that [...] Leaving home to head for the moors on Wednesday evening it was overcast and didn’t look all that promising but when we got to the southern end of Hameldon there were some glimpses of the sun.
The light on the opposite ridge (east of Widecombe) was lovely. It was illuminating [...] On a Wednesday night I will often walk with friends on Dartmoor however it has rained quite a lot recently so we decided to take a shorter walk in the Bay. This shows the storm approaching.
