Exhibitions

I have no further exhibitions planned for 2012 however I am looking at possibilities for other exhibition venues for the year. It seems quite likely that I will be returning to Birdwood House in the Spring of 2013.  Information will be here when there is any or on my facebook page :) .  Feel free to contact me if you have any queries or want to offer me some space.

Torbay Hospital Gallery

I showed a collection of my framed images at the gallery at Torbay hospital from late December 2011 to the 30th January 2012.  There were 27 framed images exhibited.  Commission on sales went to South Devon Healthcare Arts – which promotes Arts in Hospital.  A little more information is available here.

Art at the Edge

Flyer for Devon Open Studios by Tracy Satchwill In 2011 I was part of at The Edge in Brixham from the 3rd to the 18th September as part of the Devon Open Studios event.  While it is now a community centre, the space is a quite large old church and has a cafe there.  Around 12 artists exhibited there covering a number of different disciplines.  Art at The Edge facebook page is here.

The exhibition ran from the 3rd September to the 18th September and was open from 11am to 6pm every day.  The Edge community centre is on Bolton Street Brixham between the town centre and the hospital.  There is a small cafe there run by volunteers which usually serves hot drinks, cakes and biscuits.  It was a great exhibition with some great artists.

Catching The Light – 2011

Two years ago I became redundant from a job I had had for some 30 years and decided to work on my photography until I made my mind up what I wanted to do next – that process continues!  I have taken photographs for many years now and was a fairly keen “point and shoot” photographer while I was still working full time.  I decided to treat myself to a digital SLR camera with some of my redundancy money and a photographic course too.

This exhibition, and my work generally, focusses on the beautiful countryside we have around us here in the West Country.  However even though I loved the landscape before I took photography seriously I have seen it with a different eye over the past two years and it is some of that viewpoint I hope to portray in this exhibition.  I am often about early and late in the day to catch the best of the light and that is what provided the name for this exhibition.

The framed photos I showed included ones of Dartmoor and the coast as well as more rural scenes.  While the majority are landscapes there are one or two rather quirky ones which just caught my eye.  Some large panoramic images were produced by high quality giclee printing on archival paper and some were be more conventional photographs.  There was also be mounted prints, a range of cards and some postcards.

The exhibition was a small selection of my photographs taken in the West Country and was at Birdwood House in the High Street, Totnes.  The exhibition was held from Monday the 28th March 2011 to Saturday the 2nd April.
