Looking out there was quite a noticeable hoarfrost however the sun was coming out so I decided to take a walk to see what was around. I was not the only one looking around as can be seen above. The (grey) squirrel seemed to want to play “hide and seek” [...]
I looked out quite early and realised it was not a day for being in the valley of the river Dart. In spring and autumn mist will often remain in the valley for quite some time. However there was the promise of some sun to come.
Having not had a proper walk for almost two months now I decided to test out the ankle on a very sunny autumn afternoon to see how it went. I walked up to Top tor first and, not having used the wide angle lens on the moors, tried [...] We headed for Haute-Provence which was a completely new area for me. I had seen a little of the area further north and south during previous visits however I found this area very attractive indeed. We stayed at a very good b&b a little south of Sisteron. The building was old [...] Each year the fact that the sun sets earlier while it is still summer takes me by surprise – I should have learnt by now. Sunset is now around 20:30 with dusk about 21:00 so walking in the evening will require torches soon (& I’ll stop taking the camera). With the light [...] I’ve been thinking about changing my camera for a while now and not for another Sony for a few reasons. Given this I’d not looked at getting any other lenses as I’d not be using them on a new camera. However conversations with a couple of friends made me rethink my plans a [...] When I take a series of photos I try and decide whether there is anything that might be interesting for a blog posting. The next step is to try and find a theme for that posting (I’d like to think most of them succeed!). “Granite” and “Dartmoor” are so closely linked I found [...] Although the ankle is still not good I ventured out for some short strolls on the moors yesterday (with it strapped up). The eastern area of Dartmoor around Hey Tor and Widecombe does not have the wide open spaces of the central moors and tends to be a little crowded at [...] Out and about locally yesterday gave some differing and interesting light conditions. In the morning I was in Torbay wandering around on the coast.
The combination of the light and cloud over the Berry Head headland were very striking (and appealing). The light on a sea that was quite calm [...] |
